FPPK Teacher Spotlight: Sharon Snyder

Our Teacher Spotlight section highlights one of our dedicated teachers or staff members at FPPK.

Sharon Snyder brings a rich background in classical ballet and the performing arts to her role as our Creative Movement teacher at FPPK. She uses her extensive training and dance experience to help our students explore movement, music, and self-expression. She is passionate about inspiring creativity and joy in every child she teaches and brings that mission to our school's students.

Her Approach

In Creative Movement class, Sharon uses vibrant and exciting dance activities to help children become more aware of their bodies. Each exercise improves their coordination and spatial awareness. Her curriculum playfully introduces basic ballet terminology and encourages children to listen closely to music, move to the rhythm, and more. She sparks imagination and uses props and storytelling to bring each dance to life.

Experience

Sharon is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, majoring in ballet. She trained under distinguished instructors, including Melissa Hayden, Duncan Noble, and Robert Lindgren. Her performance credits include leading roles in “The Nutcracker,” “Four Temperaments,” “Dancing with Duke,” and “Concerto Barroco.” In addition to her training at UNC, she studied at Pennsylvania Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.

Her Personal Life

Sharon celebrates the arts and creativity outside the classroom in her daily life. Her deep love for dance and expression makes her an inspiring presence at FPPK. Each day, she shares the joy of movement with her students and looks forward to many more seasons of dancing, learning, and growing together.
