We Believe That Children “Learn What They Live”.

Our Mission

FPPK is a family-centered program that provides developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive services and support for children age 2.5 months to Kindergarten and their families. Here at FPPK, we believe that early childhood learning is both exciting and ongoing. In collaboration with families, we nurture each child with care and compassion so that they can become confident and engaged life-long learners.

We meet children where they are developmentally and create an engaging learning environment where children’s understanding of the world can be explored and expanded; where their self esteem and confidence can grow and develop in harmony with others.  Our goal is to balance instructive play and constructive learning in a loving environment, with a rewarding program that values independent exploration as much as group cooperation.

What is a Family Centered School?

A Partnership Between Home and School

A parent is a child’s first teacher.  That valued role should continue as your child enters school.  At FPPK, we benefit from the role parents play in their child’s life.  We believe that a strong home/school partnership provides a wonderful start to your child’s academic journey to bridge the gap between home and school.

Your participation at FPPK will strengthen the existing bond with your child.  Parental involvement gives you first hand knowledge about your child’s classroom experience, increases your understanding of your student’s development and creates stability during their early school years.

To observe your child’s interaction with peers in the classroom is both a joy and an amazing opportunity.  You get a bird’s eye view of what your child can do. Service in the classroom is invaluable and strengthens your role as an educational advocate for your child in future academic settings.

Community Building

FPPK is a learning community.  Our families bring unique ideas, talents, skills, perspectives and experiences with them when they enter.

We value your contribution tremendously.  Your participation in the school community not only enhances your child’s life, but improves the quality of education for ALL children in the school.

Families, teachers and staff work together to expand the possibilities for FPPK students – ensuring that their learning opportunities extend far beyond the classroom.

The Family Connection

Parents sign up for days they would like to have during the school year. This allows parents to coordinate schedules with a spouse, employer, or babysitter, and plan and prepare for special days (i.e. birthdays, holidays, etc).

A parent’s responsibility is to assist the head teacher as needed and to have fun!

The Responsive Classroom

“Responsive classroom” is an evidence-based approach to teaching and discipline that focuses on engaging academics, positive community, effective management, and developmental awareness.

The Four Key Domains of Responsive Classroom are:

  1. Engaging Academics. Learner-centered lessons that are participatory, appropriately challenging, fun, relevant, and promote curiosity, wonder, and interest.

  2. Positive Community. A safe, predictable, joyful, and inclusive environment where all students have a sense of belonging and significance.

  3. Effective Management. A calm and orderly learning environment that promotes autonomy, responsibility, and high engagement in learning.

  4. Developmentally Responsive Teaching. Basing all decisions for teaching and discipline upon research and knowledge of students’ social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

We strive to fulfill each child’s wide range of interests while laying a strong academic foundation for future learning through:

Social Studies

Music Appreciation

Art

Reading Readiness

Drama

Interactive Math

Science

Dance and Movement
